KEEP ON WALKING!!
I’ll just keep on walking!! You have to understand my life to understand the depth of this song for me.
You keep on walking when:
You stumble and fall.
You keep on walking when:
You run into a 20 mile detour that is all up hill.
You keep on walking when:
You have no one to walk with you.
You keep on walking when you:
See no signs of the end of the road.
You keep on walking when:
you want to quit but Jesus says “continue on.”
You keep on walking when:
the only company you have is the judging and jeering committee.
You keep on walking when:
All signs point to you going in the wrong direction but Jesus says to “go anyway.
How many “keep on walking scenerios can you come up with that is applicable to your life?
Psalm 57
A David Psalm, When He Hid in a Cave from Saul
1-3 Be good to me, God—and now! I’ve run to you for dear life.
I’m hiding out under your wings
until the hurricane blows over.
I call out to High God,
the God who holds me together.
He sends orders from heaven and saves me,
he humiliates those who kick me around.
God delivers generous love,
he makes good on his word.
4 I find myself in a pride of lions
who are wild for a taste of human flesh;
Their teeth are lances and arrows,
their tongues are sharp daggers.
5 Soar high in the skies, O God!
Cover the whole earth with your glory!
6 They booby-trapped my path;
I thought I was dead and done for.
They dug a mantrap to catch me,
and fell in headlong themselves.
7-8 I’m ready, God, so ready,
ready from head to toe,
Ready to sing, ready to raise a tune:
”Wake up, soul!
Wake up, harp! wake up, lute!
Wake up, you sleepyhead sun!”
9-10 I’m thanking you, God, out loud in the streets,
singing your praises in town and country.
The deeper your love, the higher it goes;
every cloud is a flag to your faithfulness.
11 Soar high in the skies, O God!
Cover the whole earth with your glory!
KEEP STANDING TEENS!!
I’M STILL STANDING
When relationships break down, emotions run high. You feel like the world has come to an end, but guess what? The sun will still rise and set the next day, God is still on the throne, and Jesus is still King.
What have you learned from the experience? Perhaps now you know the genuine from the disingenuine. Perhaps now, you will recognize who really cares about you and who doesn’t.
Remember, when boys ask for sex, just say no. It is a good test to see if they really care about you, or just care what they can get out of you. If they won’t respect your feelings, they are just using you. ‘Save yourself for your true lover–your future husband. It will be worth it.
I had an experience like this once when I was younger. My boyfriend wanted to go all the way, and it was tempting for the momentary pleasure, but I said no. He respected it, but later I found out things I didn’t know. I was so grateful and relieved I hadn’t given up my virginity. I would have felt so used and abused.
Remember, it isn’t worth it for just a momentary pleasure. The consequences are forever, especially if you pick up a disease.
HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT & KEEP IT OFF–PART 1
Losing weight is no different than any other bad habit. We have to discover why we have the bad habit, no matter what it is, and then take steps to correct it. In other words, there is psychology involved.
Psychology involves finding out why people behave the way they do. It quite often probes into the subconscious.
In many instances overeating means life is somewhat out of control for us. We don’t know how to handle it, so we turn to other ways to console ourselves.
For myself, life is quite out of control. I have lost a lot of weight, but for me, overeating is not my problem as much as my sweet tooth is. Because I have always had one, it seems to manifest itself more now. To really correct the problem, my life will have to come under control, but in the meantime, I know I have to keep sweets out of the house and just indulge myself only once a week. At times, I have used reverse psychology or negative reinforcement to bring about a positive result. I just have a junk food day. I enjoy it but by the end of the day, I just want to say “yuck,” and I am more than happy to eat right (at least for awhile).
The bottom line is life is full of choices. We have to get to the point where we would rather be thin than fat. Every time we make a special trip to the refrigerator we are chosing to be fat. This is very important to remember.
So, in conclusion, sit down and evaluate yourself. What makes you want to over eat? What does the doctor say about you being overweight? Do you have a medical problem? Do you lack exercise in your life? Are you eating the wrong foods? Are your proportions to large? Is there too much sugar in your diet? Do you have unresolved issues in your life? If so, perhaps finding a support group would be wise. What ever the reasons, know that you do NOT have to stay overweight and you CAN lose it and keep it off. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Remember Phillipians 4:13: “I can do ALL things through CHRIST who strenghtens me.”
