ARE YOU ON THE THRONE OF YOUR LIFE?
He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30)
John the Baptist is answering his disciples when they brought it to his attention that people were following Jesus instead of him. John knew that his time was up, and he must decrease so Jesus could increase.
The pharasitical hypocrites that were on the top of the ladder wouldn’t accept Jesus as their Messiah for several different reasons. First, he didn’t have the credentials to make him an expert by their standards, as they were the experts. Secondly, they couldn’t take the truth about what Jesus said about them. Last, they knew that if Jesus really was the Messiah, they would have to decrease, and He would have to increase. This they weren’t willing to do. They believed Jesus would come as a conqueror to overthrow Rome, and secretly, they assumed they would rule and reign with Him.
Today, examine yourself to see if you have truly “let go, and let God.” Are you serving God conditionally or unconditionally? Are you believing that your will is God’s will when it should be just the opposite? Do you have a “I’m sure if you pray about it, you will see it my way” attitude?
There are many ways we are on the throne of our lives. Let’s all dethrone ourselves today.
