He was before all else began.  (Col 1:17)

The faithful and true witness of all that is or was or evermore shall be, the primeval source of God’s creation.  He is the head of the Church–which he began; and he is the Leader of all those who arise from the dead, so that he is first in everything.

The Lord formed me in the beginning, before he created anything else.  From ages past, I am.  I existed before the earth began.  I was there when he established the heavens and formed the great springs in the depths of the oceans.  I was there when he set the limits of the seas and gave them his instructions not to spread beyond their boundaries.  I was there when he made the blueprint for the earth and oceans.  I was always at his side like a little child.  I was his constant delight, laughing and playing in his presence.  From eternity to eternity, I am God.

Jesus, our leader.  He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterwards; and now he sits in the place of honor by the throne of God.
