IS CHRISTIANITY JUST ANOTHER RELIGION?
What makes Christianity different from other religions? Isn’t it just another set of belief systems, rules, and regulations, that if you do enough of the right things you go to heaven, if not, well, you “go south?”
No, not exactly. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that “by grace are ye saved, not by works lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8)
When you analyze this it is easy to understand. If you believe in the God of the Bible, you must come to the conclusion that He is perfect. This means He cannot tolerate anything imperfect. So, nothing imperfect can enter heaven including you. You would just corrupt Heaven with all your faults.
So, how does one become perfect, so you can go to heaven when you die? The answer is you can’t. You are doomed for eternity. But wait–God knew this and sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to be the perfect sacrifice, so that all who believe in their heart, ask God to forgive their sins, is cleansed. (I John 1:9). Your soul instantly becomes perfect. You still have your sinful nature, but your sins have been washed away!
Now the differences between Christianity and other religions become very clear. The God of the Bible lives in you through Jesus. You are a new person. The old is gone. The new has come. (II Corinthians 5:17)
Remember that believing the Christian doctrine doesn’t save you. You must be born-again where Jesus lives inside you. (John 3:1-5:16)
So, are you ready to talk to Jesus and get to know him? He’s waiting and longing, practically begging to let Him love you. There is no special way to pray except from the heart. First, you must totally understand that you are totally lost with no hope, and that you are a sinner in need of a savior. You probably feel empty and incomplete inside with no inner peace. So, tell Jesus how you feel, that you know you are a sinner and want to be washed clean of your sins and ask him to come into your heart and be your friend and Savior. Just talk to him like he was in the room with you because he is. If you feel like crying, this is a good thing! Tell him you want a new life in Him. But remember–this is all or nothing. You either want to totally repent or you don’t. You either want a new life in Jesus or you don’t. The Christian life is not easy. I am not going to sugarcoat it for you. Some around the world and through history have paid a terrible price for being a Christian. Jesus says to “count the costs.” But, the rewards for eternity and the inner peace you will receive makes it well worth it. Please don’t put it off. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart. You don’t know what tomorrow may bring. This may be the last opportunity you have.
